There are so many sightseeing spots in Kyoto that you may be perplexed to choose.
Here are some major spots, which lie scattered over the city.

Kyoto is a basin surrounded by mountains on three sides, the north, the east and the west.
The size of the basin is about 12 km (7.5 miles) in east to west, and 40 km (25 miles) in north to south.
The above map also shows a network of railroads in the city.
However, city buses is the main public transportation in Kyoto.
