Your tour will be exclusively guided by a member of our guide club.
  • * What is major means of transportation in the city of Kyoto?
They are city bus, subway , and taxi. *City bus is the most-used among them, because it covers all over the city. One ride costs 230 yen. One-day pass is available with 700 yen, which is good also for other private buses; Kyoto Bus and limited portions of JR West Bus. *Subway has two lines; from the north of the city to the south and from the east to the west. Fare varies on distance, starting 220 yen. One-day pass is 800 yen. *Taxi is affluent in Kyoto; it is easy to take it on the street. It starts from 620 yen for first 1,700 m and 80 yen additional for about 300 m each. Regular size taxi accommodates up to 4 people (including a guide). (Fares are as of December 2021)
  • * Can you provide us your guide with our cycling trip in Kyoto?
We are sorry we can't, beacause of safety concern. Streets in Kyoto are generally narrow and they are quite often occupied by cars parked aside. Cyclists are compelled to run on sidewalks on which power poles stand here and there.
  • * How about a trip by rent-a-car?
We don't assign our guide for a trip by rent-a-car, due to safety reason again. Narrow streets, inconspicuous street signs often written in Japanese only, and jaywalkers. Left-lane traffic requires continuous caution if you are from right-lane countries. Furthermore, it is troublesome to find parking lots in tourist seasons.
  • * Some of our members have difficulty in walking long distance. Can they enjoy the tour?
Surely they can. Our guie will escort accordingly, and some facilities have wheel chairs available and provide barrier-free tour routs. More information : https://kyoto-universal.jp/en/index.html
  • * Can we use our credit cards in any payment in Kyoto?
At hotels, restaurants, and shops which have tourists freuently, you can use it without dificulty. But the admissions at temples require almost always in cash. Compared with other big cities, there are more small shops or local restaurants do not accept the card.
